Before you can lead another person, you first have to be able to lead yourself. And to lead yourself, you must know where you're going. But to know where you're going, you must know why you're going there. The "there" is your purpose.
Many people in this world say that we're all here by chance. It's all accidental. These same people explain the origins of the universe by "theories" of events that they've never observed and can never prove (which is pseudo-science, because it contradicts the scientific method).
The truth is that all we see was created and each of us were put here with a specific purpose. If our origins were purposeless, then why do we seek purpose in life and in our careers? Simple. Because we're not here randomly, and we were created on, with, and for purpose.
Now that we've gotten the groundwork laid, what does the origins of mankind have to do with leadership?
Knowing that we were made with purpose should cause us to look for what that purpose is. Once we find it, we can pursue it with great passion and focus. But leaders don't act alone. They take others with them. Like raising a child, a purpose worth pursuing takes a village.
Why would someone want to follow you if you don't even know where YOU are headed?
So, who are you?
Where are you going?
Who are you taking with you?
Why should they follow?
Answers these questions, and you're ready to lead. Not only people, but a fulfilled life.
What are you waiting for?
